McClaren Vale, South Australia
Shiraz from Frankland River is arguably our strongest variety from this isolated, but super reliable sub-region of the fabulous Great Southern. The season was mostly mild though a severe frost in early November did reduce some yields. Good canopy management throughout the season ensured good flavour development in the fruit during the ripening period. It was all harvested in March, with a small portion finishing its ferment in new oak barriques and kept on its yeast lees for added complexity. Minimal fining and filtration has maximized the inherently generous fruit characters in this wine.
A deep, dark and vibrant crimsony red.
Beautifully aromatic with lifted, fresh and vibrant spicy fruit characters; soft ripe plums and red currants together with hints of raspberry and cranberry.
Well flavoured while still being quite delicate and very approachable. The delicious spicy plum fruit flavours are well integrated after its careful oak handling, all adding to its complexity and depth. The slight astringency and lightly drying tannins add length to the palate and provides its good finish. Superb drinking now our Frankland Shiraz will also continue to drink well for several years.

Beautiful drinking now and over the next 6 years or so.
