Barossa Valley, South Australia
A premium single vineyard wine from 100% Merlot planted in 1989 by Ron Liebich.
Named after Master Potter, Samuel Hoffmann, who settled on the property in 1848. Samuel gathered local clays, moulded pots in a home-made brick kiln, then loaded the wagon and sold them in surrounding villages. Remains of his activities can be found today as shards, but alas, very few whole pots still exist.
This wine was traditionally hand plunged, basket pressed, and unfiltered to retain natural fruit characters. Maturation for 24 months in various aged French vosques and nevers oak barrels has resulted in a full-bodied and complex wine.
